Another special feature of Begur are its coastal paths and coves. These are paths that skirt the coast and have had different uses throughout history: to access coves in the event of a shipwreck, to watch the horizon to avoid pirate attacks and even (to control smuggling and bootlegging) to smuggle in post-war times. Nowadays, you can walk along them, enjoy the coastal landscape in peace and quiet and access hidden coves where everyday events used to take place.
