The climate

Begur is located in the Baix Empordà region. It is part of the area known as Empordanet.

The climate of the Baix Empordà region is Northern Coastal Mediterranean, although locally, inland it has characteristics of a Northern Pre-coastal Mediterranean climate. The thermal regime in summer is relatively hot, while in winter it is moderate, being almost mild on the north coast. Thus, the annual thermal amplitude is low. The average temperatures are tempered by its location in front of the sea, with the warmest months of January in Catalonia (11 °C on average) and a relatively cool August (24 °C on average). Only the months of July and August are considered arid. The period with a probability of frost is between the months of November and March.

The distribution of precipitation in the Baix Empordà region is fairly regular throughout the year, although there is a very prominent maximum in autumn, with a low annual total.
In Baix Empordà, three winds are worth highlighting:

The Tramuntana: A north wind with a very notable force, generally in winter, which dominates the entire Empordà plain and is its most characteristic.
The Garbí: It usually blows in the mountains and on the coast, especially in the summer, with variable intensity and directions.
The Levant: Predominant on the coast in the spring and autumn seasons.
