ROCK FISH CULINARY SEASON
The most traditional element of Begur's cuisine is unquestionably rock fish, which provides the basis for the Culinary Season staged every year in the spring. Over this period, the various restaurants participating in the event include within their culinary offering the option of a special menu comprising dishes created using rock fish, with a wide variety of recipes and broad spectrum of prices.
Why Begur rock fish?
It is generally felt that the Begur coastline represents the very finest example of the Costa Brava. Aside from the unrivalled beauty of the landscape, there is also another quality to be remembered: beneath the crystal-clear water that caresses the coast (or batters it, on a stormy day) a wide variety of fish are to be found, known collectively as "rock fish", and characterised by their firm flesh and strong flavour.
